North Carolina organic producers and those transitioning to organic farming have until March 4 to sign up for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Organic Initiative.
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is administering the initiative. Under the EQIP Organic Initiative, approved applicants can receive up to $20,000 per year or $80,000 over six years.

After weighing his scholarship options from several colleges, Davis had all but decided to attend Winston-Salem State University.
YOUNGSVILLE -- Cedar Creek Middle School’s Dream Team (faculty and staff) will meet the undefeated Harlem Superstars in a benefit basketball game on Feb. 11 at the CCMS Gymnasium.

LOUISBURG -- Playing close games isn’t necessarily to Mike Holloman’s liking, but it certainly is getting his Louisburg College women’s basketball squad prepared for what should be a competitive Region X Tournament.
That event won’t be held until March in Kinston, meaning Holloman and Company will have to endure another heart-stopping month before playing for the right to qualify for the nationals.
