Stew sale
The Louisburg Moose Lodge is planning a Brunswick Stew sale, take-out only, on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 1 - to 4 p.m.

Bunn gardeners slate fall event
The Bunn Garden Club (361 NC Hwy 98 West) will be having their annual fall fundraiser on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. They will have plants for sale, vendors on site and activities for kids. They will also have various basket raffles as well as hot dogs and baked goods for sale.

GOP meeting scheduled
The Franklin County Republican Party will hold its monthly covered dish dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. for the dinner and with the meeting following at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Youngsville Community Building, 115 East Main Street.
All Republicans are invited. Hot dogs and drinks will be served, covered dishes would be appreciated.

Farmers market open Fridays
The Franklin County Farmers Market is open Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Shannon Village Shopping Center, Louisburg. Turnip and mustard greens, squash, zucchini, sweet bell peppers, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, purple hull peas, cabbage, and vine-ripe tomatoes are available. Handmade crafts from quilts to wooden wear and silver as well as soaps for skin care and cleaning will be for sale.

Pilot Lions plan golf tourney
The Pilot Lions, 50 Pilot By-Pass, Zebulon will host their annual tournament Friday, Oct. 10 starting at 1 p.m.
Sponsors and teams are invited. The Lions' renowned BBQ chicken dinner is included afterwards.

Legion Post plans stew sale
The American Legion Post 52 at 40 American Legion Road in Franklinton will have their "Famous" Brunswick Stew fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. until sell-out, hopefully around 2 p.m.
Only 300 quarts will be made. Walk-ins are welcomed, but to ensure your order is filled before sell-out, please pre-order by calling or texting Legionnaire Steve Ijames at (919) 727-0087 or email at stephen.ijames@gmail.com by giving your name, phone number, and the number of quarts you wish to purchase. Cost is $12/qt. (cash or check) or $12.60/qt. (credit/debit card) and payable at pick-up.

BHS Reunion scheduled
Bunn High School class of 2010 will hold its 15-year class reunion October 24-25.
Friday Oct. 24: Happy hour at 5:30 p.m. at Rustic Roots in Bunn; reserved seating at Bunn v. Louisburg football game at 7 p.m. at BHS.
Saturday, Oct. 25: class reunion at 4 p.m. at Tar Banks Brewery in Louisburg.
Happy hour and the reunion are free to attend. Kids are welcomed. There is $10 entry for the football game.

Breakfast for veterans, families
Veterans and their immediate family are being invited to a free breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Emil J. Kapaun Assembly 3440.
The breakfast will be at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 2227 Highway 39/401 North in Louisburg from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov. 8.

'No Kings' day rally planned
A Franklin County Indivisible No Kings Day Rally is planned for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until noon, beginning on Bickett Boulevard in Louisburg around Sheetz.

Town hall meeting scheduled
A town hall community meeting is being planned in the wake of federal and state budget cuts that are being felt in small towns and rural communities.
The event, planned by the political action group Down Home North Carolina, is to begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the Louisburg Magnet High School Auditorium in Louisburg.
Organizers said the event is to help people "raises the voices of working class families lift up our local priorities and demand solutions that keep communities safe, strong and thriving.

Youngsville fall festival
Youngsville Kiwanis and Grace Ministries is set to host the Youngsville Fall Festival & Car Show on Sat. Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 249 Holden Road.
