BBQ Plate sale
Justice Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a plate sale on Saturday, April 18.
Plates will be $12 each and feature either barbecue pork or chicken with all the fixin's.
Sales will begin at 11 a.m. at the fire department or D&J in Louisburg.
'Burg Arts Fest
Collective Arts of Franklin County will have their 'Burg Arts Fest, 3 - 7 p.m., Saturday, April 25, in Downtown Louisburg on Nash and Main Streets. There will be free games, a 50/50 raffle, paint and sip, and a paint and throw activity. For information, email: info@collectiveartsfc.org.
Relay for Life
Franklin County Relay for Life will hold its main Relay event Friday, April 24 from 6 - 10 p.m. at Franklinton High School Football/Track Stadium, 910 Cedar Creek Rd., Franklinton. In case of rain, the event will be held in the gym.
The theme this year is "Cancer is No Match for Us." Dress as your favorite Superhero or Avenger character. The survivor walk is at 6:15 p.m.
The Relay team will be selling luminarias and torches to honor your loved one, while raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Blood drive in Louisburg
Louisburg United Women in Faith will be hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at the Louisburg United Methodist Church, 402 North Main Street.
Participants can park on Noble street for easy access to the fellowship hall, the site of the blood drive.

Louisburg Libary closed for update
Louisburg Library on North Main Street is closed for approximately two months for renovations which began March 2. The book drop is also closed during this time but due dates have been extended to May 16 and there will be no late fees.
The library branches in Bunn, Franklinton and Youngsville will remain open and "we encourage patrons to visit them to return materials and participate in their regular programming," Hefner added.
Programs on native plants slated
The Franklin County Cooperative Extension Service will be leading a program on "Native Plants in the Landscape" at Bunn Library on Wednesday, April 8, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Legion's Good Friday fish fry set
The American Legion Post 52 in Franklinton will hold its annual Good Friday Fish Fry Fundraiser on April 3 at 40 American Legion Road from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Fish plates, including traditional sides are $12/each (credit card use fee slightly additional). Dine in or take out is available.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52 will be holding a bake sale in conjunction with the fish plate fundraiser. Various baked goods will be available for $1 to $3 each. Cash only please for bake sale.
County hours for Good Friday holiday
All Franklin County libraries will be closed Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4 for the Good Friday holiday.
The solid waste transfer station will be open Friday from 7 a.m. until 12 noon; the convenience centers will be open as usual on Friday as will the county's airport.
All other county government offices will be closed Friday, April 3.
Louisburg to close for holiday
The town of Louisburg will be closed Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday and the Easter holiday, according to Town Administrator Sean Medlin.
Home Builders offering a scholarship
The Franklin County Home Builders Association Craftsman Legacy Scholarship is designed to support students pursuing careers in the residential construction industry or skilled trades, including fields such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, masonry, and related technical programs -- and now is the time to apply.
Applicants must be a resident of Franklin County and desire a career in the residential construction industry or related skilled trades.

Boys State candidates sought
The American Legion Post 52 in Franklinton is looking for two candidates for the June 21-27 Tar Heel Boy's State to be held at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, NC.
The $500 delegate tuition is paid by Post 52. Candidates are current High School juniors and public, private and accredited home school students are eligible.
Tar Heel Boy's State is a week-long program that will bring 200 boys from around the state to learn about the workings of state government by participating in creating a mock government with all position from governor, legislators, and event elected county officials. This is a real scholarship application booster and can be a beneficial credential for college applications and military academy appointment, organizers said.
Tar Heel Boy's State delegates can apply for the prestigious Samsung Scholarship that has awards of $10,000, $5,000, and $1,250 for each winner.
