Jimmie "Roger" Brooks
April 15, 1935 - September 22, 2022

CASTALIA, NC--Jimmie "Roger" Brooks, 87 of Castalia passed away at his home on September 22, 2022. He was born on April 15, 1935, to the late John Romley Brooks and Maggie Tharrington Brooks. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brothers, Buster Brooks, Joe Brooks, and Donnie Brooks.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years Lula Brooks of the home; his beloved cat Moo Moo; his sons Wayne Brooks (Robbin Hill) of Castalia; Glen Brooks (Wendy) of Spring Hope; Jimmie Brooks (Marcia) of Germany; and daughter Lori Shinault (Eric) of Winston Salem; his grandchildren Crystal Boswell (Cecil) of Selma ; Scottie Brooks (Courtney) of Louisburg; Adam Clifton (Jennifer) of Arizona; Sara Melvin (Spencer) of Germany; Aaron Brooks of Germany; Summer Phillips (Brandon Lee) of Zebulon; Stacy Knight (Thomas Quigley) of Winterville and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Beulah Davis and Linda Pendergrass of Louisburg and brother Weddie Brooks (Debbie) of Henderson.

Roger retired from the NCDOT after 30 years of service. He loved classic cars, watching Westerns and mowing his lawn, you could always find him tinkering on something in the yard. He will be greatly missed but we know he is at home with the Lord.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday October 1, 2022 at Castalia Church of God of Prophecy, 6111 Race Track Rd., Castalia, NC 27816.
