One arrested during protest

LOUISBURG -- Town police arrested a Charlotte man they allege disrupted a monument protest over the weekend.

Those in support of retaining the Confederate soldier monument on N. Main Street and those who want it removed gathered around the statue on June 13, standing for their respective positions.

According to police, at about 6:15 p.m., a motorist drove by and threw a drink at one of the pro-monument supporters, hitting and damaging a chair.

Officers stopped the transgressor, arresting Timothy Jake Young, 26, of Charlotte.

He was charged with damage to property and littering.
