Will property tax revaluation cause a political fallout?
Will property tax revaluation cause a political fallout?
GOOD MORNING: I’m having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that it’s midwinter when overnight lows are in the mid 60’s, but such was the case early Friday morning when I drove down to pick up the morning paper.

LOUISBURG -- Guilford Tech played a nearly perfect first half during its women’s basketball showdown Wednesday against the high-powered Louisburg College Lady Hurricanes.
GTCC, a key Region X rival of LC’s over the past several years, had made a slew of long-range 3-pointers while making the transition-oriented Lady Hurricanes play a half-court game.

BUNN IN THE ZONE
BUNN IN THE ZONE
BUNN -- A frenzied full-court pressure defense is destined to fuel Bunn’s quest for a deep run into the Class 2-A Girls Basketball State Playoffs.
But another defensive strategy is every bit as pleasing to the Ladycats’ fans.
When BHS head coach Chuck Mann implores his team to drop back into a 2-3 zone, it usually means that the Ladycats have obtained a substantial cushion -- and Mann isn’t about to run up the score on an opponent.

BUNN -- The high-wire conclusion of Bunn’s playoff thriller with North Brunswick on Wednesday left BHS veteran head coach Gerald Melton crying foul.
Literally.
North Brunswick, leading by one point, missed a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining, one of which came courtesy of a lane violation.

BUNN -- Defeating a team four times in one season is never an easy proposition -- especially a tall, athletic club like Warren County.

RED OAK -- The roster that represented Bunn High School at Thursday’s Northern Nash Girls Soccer Jamboree won’t resemble the one the Ladycats will boast once basketball season ends.
Six BHS soccer players are currently tied up in the hoops playoffs, either as players or cheerleaders.
Heading that list, of course, is BHS junior Whitney Bunn, who is already one of the most prolific scorers in school history.

Countywide property values to increase nearly 15 percent
Countywide property values to increase nearly 15 percent
Residents began getting their revaluation tax notices as early as Tuesday.
And the county’s tax evaluators began getting questions just as fast.

Flying high
Flying high
Seated in the cockpit of a P-47 Thunderbolt or P-51 Mustang, dodging enemy fire, Barrie Davis was in his element — enough so that the World War II veteran earned Ace status and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
But, to those who know the 88-year-old who still looks just as much a flyboy, you would hardly learn of his accomplishments by talking to him.
