Joshua and Jessica Renee Hill of Naples, Italy, announce the birth of their daughter, Isabella Renee Hill, born March 22, 2010 at United States Naval Hospital in Naples. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Franklin County reported its second case of rabies this year after a raccoon tested positive for the deadly viral disease last week.
According to animal control, the raccoon had come into contact with a Shephard dog mix in the area of N.C. 561 and Duke Valentine Road in Louisburg.

A Louisburg College administrator resigned last week after being arrested on gun charges and eluding arrest.
Justin Carl Berg, 35, was slated to appear in Wake County District Court on Tuesday.
Wake Forest Police arrested Berg on June 7, charging him with assault by pointing a gun, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a gun where alcohol is sold/consumed, eluding arrest, driving while impaired, and reckless driving with wanton disregard.
A Franklinton man was killed early Saturday while walking along U.S. 1.
Emergency responders pronounced Kenneth Lee Patterson dead at the scene after he was hit by a car driven by 20-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez of Henderson. No charges will be filed, police said.

YOUNGSVILLE — This past weekend, being a ham was appropriate, because more than 30,000 amateur radio operators across the country, including a handful here in Franklin County, were the center of attention.
After setting up antennae, and other pieces of equipment, Franklin County Amateur Radio Club members took part in the annual American Radio Relay League Field Day — where radio operators used skill, equipment and experience to make voice and Morse Code communications with fellow operators across the country.

Moving quickly Monday night, the Franklin County Board of Education made the financial adjustments necessary to wrap up its current fiscal year and then passed an interim budget that will allow it to operate until its new budget can be finalized.
Saying that the year-end budget amendments were routine and “like gathering up leaves in the fall,” Doug Moore, assistant superintendent for business and finance, said only one change would have a significant impact on the budget.

Law enforcement officers from every corner of the county now have one badge that unites them — the Fraternal Order of Police.
On June 23, 40 officers signed a charter, giving birth to the Franklin County Fraternal Order of Police Chapter 96.
The chapter serves two purposes:
Wilson police recovered a truck stolen from the parking lot of Franklin Regional Medical Center.
According to a report by Louisburg Police Officer Elliott Coker, a 2005 Ford F-150 was taken from the hospital parking lot the afternoon of June 24.
FRANKLINTON —Funeral services for Kenneth “K.D.” Dunston, 70, who died Saturday, June 26, 2010, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Union Grove church cemetery.

PRINCETON - James David “Pete” Edwards, 72, died Saturday, June 26, at his home. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 29, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with the Rev. Vance Harrell and the Rev. Marcus Riggs officiating. Burial, with Masonic Rites, followed in the Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens.
FRANKLINTON-George R. “Buddy” McCarty, 71, of southern Granville County, died Thursday, June 24, 2010. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon, June 28, at Oxford Presbyterian Church, Oxford, with the Rev. Alan Koeneke officiating. Burial followed at Wake Forest Cemetery.
ZEBULON - Minister Beulah H. Tuck, 82, died Saturday, June 26, 2010. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at New Fire Worship Center, 100 W. Barbee Street, Zebulon. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
WAKE FOREST - Lacy Bell Massey Wall, 97, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Hillside Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 30) in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Faile officiating. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
RALEIGH - Robert Sidney Page, 67, died Sunday, June 27, 2010. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the parlor of First Baptist Church, 99 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh.
FRANKLINTON—James Edward Welch, 77, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at his home. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at his home, 898 West Green Street, Franklinton.
