ANNIE R. EDWARDS
FRANKLINTON—Annie Laurie Rowland Edwards, 94, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at her home near Franklinton following several months of declining health. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday,  Oct. 16, at Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church, 854 Perry’s Chapel Church Road, Franklinton.

She was the daughter of the late Bernie Lee Rowland and Annie Elizabeth Kittrell Rowland. Born  Feb. 7, 1916 in the Bobbitt community of Franklin County,  she attended Bobbitt public school and was salutatorian of the Epsom High School graduating class of 1933.

She was active in Home Demonstration Club activities during the 50’s and 60’s and was an accomplished homemaker.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she sang in the choir, led Women’s Missionary Society activities and taught a youth Sunday School class.

She was predeceased by her husband, Talmadge H. Edwards, and brothers, Robert J. Rowland, Massie W. Rowland and Julian Rowland.

Surviving: sons, Talmadge H. Edwards, Jr. (Betsy), Hoyt L. Edwards (Bonnie), Bernie R. Edwards (Sondra) and Lewis F. Edwards (Joan); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
