August 14, 1939 – September 3, 2011
LOUISBURG - Adrian Clay “A.C.” Gupton, 72, of Louisburg, NC, died peacefully Saturday, September 3.

Adrian was born on August 14, 1939, to Rheubert and Florence (Moore) Gupton. After graduating from Gold Sand High School in 1957, Adrian was the first in his family to go to college. Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy in 1961, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a pharmacist for 50 years before returning to Louisburg in 2007.

Adrian was a compassionate man, not only to those he helped through his work in the pharmaceutical field, but also to the creatures that he loved as much as life itself - his dogs. Adrian was a faithful companion to his animals and leaves Hans and Samantha.

Never to be hinged with regret, Adrian leaves this world and those who loved him better for having known him.

A celebration of Adrian’s life will be held Saturday, September 10, at 2:00 o’clock at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (301 North Church Street), with a reception to follow at the home (131 Jeffress Dr, Louisburg).

He is survived by his life-long partner, Alan Loper of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Shirley Gupton of Wake Forest; nephew Jeff Gupton (Angie), great-niece and nephew, Brooke and Grant, all of Raleigh; stepsisters, Faye Dickens (Hal) and Sylvia Williams (Robert), and stepbrother Jerry Wayne Boone (Marty); special cousin, Linda West (Charlie) of Louisburg; and special friend, Dwight Bryant of Highlands, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 301 North Church Street, Louisburg, NC 27549, or the A.S.P.C.A. (Gift Processing Center), P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC  20077-7127.
