JANA DELL JONES
Jana Dell Jones, M.D., F.A.C.P., 45, of Leavenworth, Kansas, died Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Kansas City Hospice House. Dr. Jones is survived by her husband, Kansas Supreme Court Justice Robert E. Davis, and her son, Brian Jones of the home; her mother and stepfather, Johnette and Carl McIntyre of Louisburg, NC and Waldport, OR; two brothers, Harry D. Wood, IV of Atlanta, GA, and R. Tyler Wood of Louisburg, NC; grandparents, Louis and Selema J. Oxnevad of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, formerly of Louisburg, NC; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dr. Jones graduated magna cum laude from Washburn University with a B.A. in chemistry and received her medical doctorate from the University of Kansas Medical Center, specializing in Internal Medicine.

She served on the Kansas Board of Healing Arts and as a Medical Consultant for Lansing Correctional Facility and Leavenworth Federal Prison, a member of The Pain and Policy Management Committee, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine of the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Sciences.

She was in private practice in Lansing-Leavenworth until 2003 and was a frequent lecturer on lupus and other autoimmune diseases throughout Kansas and Missouri.

Awards included master’s studies in Piano Performance; Flute Performance undergraduate studies, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Dr. Jones was a published author of several books and professional articles.

Services were held on Monday, September 24th at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.

The local and extended family of Jana would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the outpouring of support and kindness from our many friends in the community during this time.
