FAYE S. LAYTON
April 5, 1930 - February 10, 2008
LOUISBURG - Faye Swanson Layton, 77, of 451 Swanson Road, died Sunday at her son’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Franklin County and daughter to the late David Clinton and Hattie Belle Bartholomew Swanson. Shortly after her marriage, she moved to Raleigh where she raised her family and worked for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Faye loved her extended family and community and was a friend to many. She inspired us with her courage and determination throughout her extended illness.

Funeral service 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, Duke Memorial Baptist Church. Burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Fred W. Layton of the home; son, Jerry Layton and wife Faith of Raleigh; niece, Teresa Perry and husband Everette of Fayetteville; sisters, Shelby Bunn and husband Bill of Wake Forest, Jennie Layton and husband Julius of Raleigh; brother-in-law, Roy Overton of Wilmington; grandchildren, Eric and Laurie Layton of Clayton, Jeff and Leslie Pollard of Wendell, Christi and Bryan Phillippie of Wendell, Julie and Vinnie Maurizzio of Raleigh; 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, David Swanson, and sister, Pansy Overton.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Duke Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 3676 NC Hwy 581, Spring Hope, NC 27882 or Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC 27605.

The family received friends 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
