Commissioners raise pay for all EMS staff
Commissioners raise pay for all EMS staff

LOUISBURG -- Franklin County commissioners raised all EMS employee pay by 10 percent -- a move designed to retain current employees and attract new ones.
It equates to about a $2-per-hour increase for all part- and full-time staff, costing the county $375,000 to implement the raise for the remainder of the current fiscal year.
"... As a result of the pandemic, the value of this position in the marketplace has gone up, hence the need to recognize that in some very specific ways," said County Manager Kim Denton, who proposed the pay raise during the board's Jan. 3 meeting.

It's every gym owner's favorite moment in time: Time to commit to those freshly minted New Year's resolutions.
Years ago, when I began running, I determined the best thing that I could do was stop looking at the bathroom scale.
And, in all honesty, I could not tell you the last time that I did.

THE CHAMPS AGAIN

BUNN -- Aside from the host Wildcats, no team has been more a fixture at the Bunn Holiday Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament than the Northern Nash Fighting Knights -- and for good reason.
Northern Nash has won the event in the past and almost always puts together a high-profile showing, and veteran NNHS head coach Henry Drake has often credited his club's work at the tournament with success later on in the campaign.

But things didn't quite turn out that way as the Wildcats, despite entering the outing with just one victory on the season, gave the powerhouse Firebirds all they could handle before Southern Nash was able to extend somewhat in the second half of action to secure a tougher-than-expected 73-64 decision at the Bunn Dome.
