Stew sale
The Louisburg Moose Lodge is planning a Brunswick Stew sale, take-out only, on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Annual quilt show planned
Quilt Trails of the Tar and Roanoke River is planning its annual Quilt Show featuring the modern and vintage quilts of local quilters
The show will be held in the Person Place home at 604 North Main Street, Louisburg, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 and Sunday, Oct. 26, from noon to 4 p.m.
A beautiful quilt donated by the Quilt Trails Quilt Guild will be raffled during the show with all proceeds going to the Margaret Hilpert Scholarship Foundation. Every year a $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a high school student from seven counties, including Franklin. The selection is based upon a GPA of 3.5 or above, and an essay. This year's essay was "Why is community history important?"
The raffle drawing will be Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. and the winner does not need to be present.
Admission to the quilt show is free.

Benefit car show scheduled
The Perry's School Alumni Association is planning a car show on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Perry's School, 2226 Laurel Mill-Centerville Road in Centerville.
Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. and the car show is from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee.
Included will be food, vendors and fun, organizers said. Proceeds will benefit the Perry's School Community Center.

Farmers market open Fridays
The Franklin County Farmers Market is open Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Shannon Village Shopping Center, Louisburg. Turnip and mustard greens, squash, zucchini, snaps, vine-ripe tomatoes, local honey, pasture-raised beef, pork, chicken, lamb, farm-fresh eggs, sweet potatoes, sourdough bread and fresh baked goods are available. Handmade crafts from quilts to wooden wear and silver jewelry will be offered as well as soaps for skin care and cleaning.

BHS Reunion scheduled
Bunn High School class of 2010 will hold its 15-year class reunion October 24-25.
Friday Oct. 24: Happy hour at 5:30 p.m. at Rustic Roots in Bunn; reserved seating at Bunn v. Louisburg football game at 7 p.m. at BHS.
Saturday, Oct. 25: class reunion at 4 p.m. at Tar Banks Brewery in Louisburg.
Happy hour and the reunion are free to attend. Kids are welcomed. There is $10 entry for the football game.

Breakfast for veterans, families
Veterans and their immediate family are being invited to a free breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Emil J. Kapaun Assembly 3440.
The breakfast will be at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 2227 Highway 39/401 North in Louisburg from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Those planning to attend should RSVP via text to 919-986-9171 not later than Nov. 1.

Veterans Day schedules
All Franklin County government offices, including all libraries, will be closed all day Tuesday, Nov. 11, to observe Veterans Day.
However, the solid waste transfer station, the convenience centers and the county airport will all be open on their regular schedules that day.

Change collection to aid firemen
A Change for Change fund drive, hosted by the Franklin County Interfaith Council is underway.
The event is to raise money for the Louisburg Fire Department's swift water rescue program. Jars are in place around the county to gather donations of change.

A busy season in Louisburg
A number of upcoming events have been announced in Louisburg, including:
BBQ in the Burg will be Oct. 24 and 25; Halloween Downtown will be Oct. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.; registration for the Christmas parade is underway at town hall; and a Turkey Trot is planned for Thanksgiving Day in downtown Louisburg for the benefit of Care and Share and the Help Center NC.

Franklinton Lions fixing pancakes
The Franklinton Lions Club is planning a Pancake Supper on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Lions Building on Chavis Street in Franklinton.
Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m.

County Birders plan meeting
Franklin County Birders will have their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office in Louisburg.
The topic will be "Finding birds in Franklin County."

Hunger, homelessness in focus
Franklin County Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month is in November 2025. The Franklin County Interfaith Council will sponsor several events in addressing the need for shelter and food insecurities in the county. The public is invited to attend these events.
These events are:
•Gala for Hope on Nov. 1 at Mile Magnolia Event Center, 24 Douglas Road, Louisburg. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and there will be entertainment, dinner, a cash bar and a silent auction. There is a charge for tickets.
•A Candlelight Prayer Vigil will be held Nov. 18 on the Franklin County Courthouse steps in Louisburg, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event is to shine a light on hunger and homelessness in Franklin County.
• A Thanksgiving Day Community Donner will be held in the Louisburg College dining hall on Thanksgiving day. The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. and volunteers are needed to help prepare food, serve food and/or donate a grocery gift card. BBQ Plate sale
The Justice Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a plate sale on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the fire department and D&J.
Plates will be $12 each and feature either barbecue pork or chicken with all the fixin's. Sales will begin at 11 a.m.

Spaghetti supper
Boy Scout Troop 555 of Louisburg will sponsor an Election Night Spaghetti Supper on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 4 p.m. until sold out. The supper will be held at the Franklin County Farmer's Market in the Shannon Village Shopping Center. Cost is $10 per plate, will include spaghetti and bread. Sauce is also available for $10 per quart after 6 p.m. Take out only.
Boy Scout Troop 555 is sponsored by Louisburg United Methodist Church.

Trick or treat
Trick or Treat on Main Street is this Friday in Youngsville.
From 4-6 p.m., Main Street businesses will offer trick-or-treating.
And, from 4-7 p.m., a the Youngsville Community House will be turned into a haunted house.
Also, from 4-7 p.m., a kid zone will be available next to the community house.
The costume contest will take place at 6 p.m. at the Yacht Club Beverage House.
Folks can donate non-perishable food at the Winslow Lot downtown.

Frankenfest on main
Franklinton will celebrate its Frankenfest on Main this Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon until 5 p.m.
The event in downtown Franklinton will feature live music from the Police & Thieves band, as well as music from DJ Mark Speed.
There will be more than 100 craft vendors and about 20 food vendors. There will also be a dance competition and costume contest. The theme is Out of This World, and will feature alien accents.
