Gerald is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen W. Wilson of Louisburg, NC and her 3 daughters, Mary Ellen Johnson, Marty Boone, and Alice Seybert; niece Linda W. Cottrell and her husband, Jimmy Cottrell from Louisburg, NC and their three daughters, husbands and grandsons, Pam and Jaey Young and children, Trevor Vaughan, Claire and Chip Young, Lisa and Mike Mosley, and Lou, Mike and Tanner Rigsbee; niece Libby Jones and husband Steve Kelly from Winton, NC and their two daughters and husbands, Rebecca Cary and Jack Mitchell from Durham, NC and Anna and Zahir Basrai from Los Angeles, California; niece Margaret N. Gerald graduated from Epsom School and entered Wake Forest College in Wake Forest, NC for approximately 3 1/2 years. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. While there, his father died from emphysema, so Gerald left school and returned home to manage the farm. He also worked at Alston Warehouse, New Big Dollar High Price Warehouse and Liberty Warehouse in Henderson, NC. He traveled to in Knoxville, TN with J. H. Smith and Harold Renn to work at Western Avenue Tobacco Warehouse.

As many of you know, Gerald was a teaser and loved picking on people. He was called by several of his friends "Curious" and others called him "Round Man"! At Christmas, he loved taking candy to children of his friends and family and was dedicated in sending humorous birthday cards to family and friends. He was devoted to his family. Old cowboy movies on television were his favorite shows. He had a long bout with cancer and withstood years of procedures and treatments to the end. From 2 Timothy, Verse 6 & 7, "For I am already on the point of being sacrificed; the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith."

His friends and family were very good to Gerald - mowing his grass, putting light bulbs in ceiling light fixtures, getting him a cell phone, fixing his television and telephone when they didn't work, taking him to ride, stopping by to check on him, coming by for visits, and taking him out to eat. These friends are Tom Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Randy Kearney, Linwood Edwards, Donald "Duck" Edwards, Jonathan Renn and others. Gerald's family wants to thank everyone for giving their time and kindness to him.
