Neighbor dispute erupts into shooting
Distracted driving led to a wreck in Franklinton.
According to a report by Officer Terry Pearce, Valeria Barron was driving a 2004 Chevy south on Main Street just after 3 p.m. on March 8 when she reached for a dropped cell phone.
In her attempt to retrieve the device, the report states, Valeria drove into the back of a stopped vehicle operated by Regina Morgan.

But to Oliver ‘June’ Greene, self-assuredness and confidence are keys as he prepares to defend his championship in The Franklin Times NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Bracket Pool.
As the only participant to pick Connecticut to win the national championship last year, Greene pulled away with his late flurry to finish with 86 points.

LANCASTER, S.C.-- The Louisburg College Lady Hurricanes softball team opened up Region X play last weekend by splitting a four-game road series with the University of South Carolina-Lancaster.
LC won last Saturday’s series opener by a 9-1 margin, but the home team rallied to take the nightcap by a narrow 5-4 margin.

Louisburg repeats as region champs
HICKORY -- Top-seeded Louisburg College rallied from an 11-point first-half deficit to beat Patrick Henry Community College 75-69 in Sunday’s Region X tournament title game at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory.
The victory secured LC a berth in the upcoming national tournament and gave the program back-to-back regional tournament championships under second-year head coach Mark Vanderslice.

Franklinton woman files sexual harassment lawsuit
A Raleigh company filed a motion this month, arguing that a sexual harassment suit filed by a Franklinton woman is not a matter for state court.
Tracy Moody-Williams filed a complaint in Franklin County Civil Superior Court in February, alleging that two employees of LipoScience in Raleigh were responsible for sexual harassment and infliction of emotional distress.
