CARY -- In what was probably Louisburg’s most difficult test of the regular season, the Warriors invaded talented territory last week to participate in the prestigious Mark Adams Classic at Cary High School in Wake County.
Two Warriors would earn place positions at the tourney, including 152-pounder Smiley Mueller, who reached the finals on Thursday before being defeated 8-3 by top-seeded Tyrone Mason from Hillsborough Orange.

CARY -- Louisburg earned a strong team finish at last week’s Mark Adams Classic Wrestling Tournament, which was held at the historic Cary High School Gymnasium in Wake County.
The Warriors tied for 14th place overall with 56.50 points -- the same number secured by Durham School of the Arts.

Although his big, official visit wasn’t until Christmas Eve, Santa Claus was seen visiting Franklin County a few weeks ago for the annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. Santa, always the special guest of honor, again rode on the last float in the long parade which marks the official opening of the holiday season — and gives the Jolly Old Gent a chance to check out how all the little ones are behaving this year.

Incentive policies approved
FRANKLINTON — Town officials approved two policies this week designed to give Franklinton tools to lure business.
The town’s Economic Development Committee met with town officials last month, recommending two proposals.
One is an incentive policy that would allow the town to provide cash grants to businesses who propose to locate in town, expand the tax base and create jobs.

FRANKLINTON — Officials decided to borrow money from its savings account to cover budget shortfalls created by a contract impasse with the county.

Turkey donation highlights UW Food Drive
YOUNGSVILLE — Christmas dinner will be capped off with donated turkeys to many of those in need in Franklin County this year.
As part of an effort that started in Youngsville last year with three businesses in cooperation with Butterball L.L.C. in Garner and in partnership with the United Way of Franklin County Food Drive, 200 turkeys – weighing 10 to 13 pounds each – were distributed to families this week.

Stolen vehicle found near Perry’s Pond
A Cary man is awaiting his day in court after he was arrested on charges of swindling a Youngsville man.
According to arrest warrants and investigators, Jimmy Ray, 63, of Youngsville alleges he hired Ashley Cameron Rhodes in August of 2009 to do repairs on his home.
According to reports, Ray paid Rhodes, 44, for work, but a large portion of the home remains undone.

Judging by the decorations and the fact that we have a large photo of Santa on page 1 of this edition, it would appear that the rumors are true.
It’s Christmas Eve, 2010.
Doesn’t seem possible but we’re down to the last few days of the year and most kids are holding their breaths — or climbing the walls — awaiting a visit from the Jolly Old Gent from the North Pole.
