FRMC announces layoffs
In an effort to “better align the hospital for the future,” Franklin Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Jason Proctor announced a 17-employee workforce reduction on Thursday.
The reduction, about 6.6 percent of the hospital’s workforce, came from eight departments “all over the hospital,” Proctor said.

Franklin County received the funding necessary to bring traffic from one of its main thoroughfares to its proposed economic development hub.
The county expects to pair a recently earned $1.7 million U.S. Economic Development Administration grant with $900,000 in state money to build an access road — connecting U.S. 401 with the Triangle North Franklin business park on Airport Road.
