This fall, a tutoring program is being formed to help kids at risk in the Bunn area, according to Gary Kyttle.
“There are many young people who are on the verge of dropping out or flunking out of school due to poor grades,” he explained.

How did he get invited to Curves? Well, his mother Jean and aunt Angela are members of Curves. Soon after his mother moved to Louisburg, the word got around that one of her sons was no other than “Josh,” the handsome model and actor so well liked by young women, and not so young women, as well.

LOUISBURG -- Louisburg High School’s volleyball team had a busy week -- in addition to its marathon match Thursday against Bunn (see page 10 for more details).
Tuesday at home, Louisburg was able to gain a tight five-game decision over the North Johnston Lady Panthers in a Northern Carolina Conference matchup at the LHS Gymnasium.

HENDERSON -- Vance-Granville Community College has cancelled its 2010 women’s volleyball season due to an insufficient number of player commitments.
This was supposed to be the second campaign of volleyball at Vance-Granville -- the school began participating in the sport last fall.

Bunn Blasts Webb
OXFORD -- Bunn exploded for the final 35 points of the game and went on to defeat Oxford Webb by a 43-16 margin in a non-conference prep football matchup Friday in Granville County.
With the decisive victory, Bunn improved to 3-1 overall for the season. The Wildcats will be off next week before returning to action Sept. 24 at Nash Central.

Louisburg was able to score on its initial offensive snap of both the first and second halves en route to a 33-12 decision over former league rival Southeast Halifax.

The game was scoreless through the first half, but Franklinton got on the board when quarterback T.J. Wall delivered a 25-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kevin Williams in the third stanza of action.

The state Wildlife Resources Commission continues to investigate a hunting incident that killed a recently-graduated Louisburg High student.
Officers have yet to rule the death of Jared Kyle Wynne an accident or criminal matter.
“Right now,” Wildlife Resource Commission Lt. John Reams said, “it’s under investigation.”

FRANKLINTON — The last stop of a holiday DWI checkpoint proved to be the best as officers seized nearly 70 grams of marijuana from a sport utility vehicle.
Officers charged Trever Joseph Gledhill with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana; maintain a vehicle for the sell of a controlled substance; driving while impaired; and misdemeanor simple possession of marijuana.
