Let your opinions be known about High Speed Rail
You still have a little time to comment on one of the most ridiculous government boondoggles to come along in many a year.
But you’d better hurry! More about that in a moment.

Voters didn’t sign off on use of school bond money for new modular building
As this was being written a host of workmen — at least nine — swooped in on the Nash Street/Bickett Boulevard intersection just north of our office and began work on a storm drain ... which wouldn’t make news except that they had to take down the rat’s nest of signs everyone has been making fun of recently.

Momma Jean and Wilson Clay seem to be on the road to recovery
GOOD MORNING: At long last, I finally understand why days during the latter part of August are referred to as the “dog days of summer.” The weather, with the possible exception of this weekend, has been sweltering and everyone has bailed out of Dodge City, as the saying goes, or they’re staying inside out of the heat, one or the other.

Prayers for Chilean miners
A long and narrow coastal country located on the west side of the Andes Mountains needs, once again, our prayers and thoughts. This narrow country, 2,880 miles long and only 265 miles wide, has been hit again after the devastating earthquake this past February.
