County to return impact fees
Following a closed session,  commissioners voted to return impact fee-like funds to developers.
The county adopted its Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance in 2006, collecting fees from developers if projections suggest their subdivision plans will bring enough school children to the area to exceed capacity.

Franklin County elections staff and officials are set to begin a recount that Incumbent Congressman Bob Etheridge hopes can sway the Nov. 2 election.
County staff, though, don’t expect much change in Franklin County’s vote, although newcomer Renee Ellmers is leading the seven-time Congressman by 1,489 votes across the 10-county 2nd Congressional District.
