Diamond coach is extended
GREENVILLE -- The East Carolina University Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract extension and a $10,000 annual raise for Billy Godwin, head coach of the ECU baseball team. The contract modification extends Godwin’s contract until June 30, 2011, and increases his salary to $102,500 per year.

Gang fire erupts
A Franklinton teenager was arrested Thursday after firing two shots into a vehicle with four other teens.
Louis Yarborough Jr., 17, of 14 Gentlewinds Drive, allegedly fired two shots from a 12-gauge shotgun at a Ford Explorer being driven by Joseph Dubois, 19, and carrying Joseph Fogg, 18 and two other teens, ages 15 and 14.
