The State Highway Patrol filed charges against a Las Vegas man they say was responsible for a fatal wreck earlier this month. According to the report by Trooper J.A. Thomas, Zachary Rayne Crosta, was driving a 2008 Chevy pickup truck west on N.C. 56 just after 1 p.m. on Oct. 14 when he crossed the center line.

LOUISBURG -- Sheriff's deputies arrested three people on heroin charges.The afternoon of Jan. 4, authorities seized two dosage units of heroin during an arrest in the 1300 block of N.C. 39 S.Erica Renee Bottoms, 26, of Elm City, Zachary William Shearin, 27, of Spring Hope, and Walter Owen Massey, 27, of Zebulon, were charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

The case against a man accused of attempted second-degree murder continues. Gary Normand was arrested in March after investigators alleged he tried to set his girlfriend on fire before burning down their Youngsville home. A Franklinton man who claims to have been a gunshot victim is now being pursued as a suspect.
Zachary Mitchell Poole reported on March 26 that suspects pulled up in two vehicles and one suspect got out and fired at least seven rounds, one hitting him in the ankle.
Poole, 21, was taken to Franklin Regional Medical Center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
