THURMAN ALLEN GARDNER
August 8, 1939 - August 27, 2010
LOUISBURG - T. Allen Gardner passed away in Louisburg, N.C. on August 27, 2010.  He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Griffin Gardner; his two sons and their families: T. Allen Gardner, Jr., his wife Karen and their son, T. Allen Gardner, III; and Donald Griffin Gardner, his wife Lara and their two children, Viviane Dare Gardner and Theodore Griffin Gardner.  Also surviving are his brother, James P. Gardner and his wife Anita.

Allen was born to Thurman P. and Clara Gardner in Kinston, North Carolina on August 8, 1939.  He graduated Grainger High School in Kinston and went on to East Carolina University, after which he completed his career with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, N.C.  After retiring from R.J. Reynolds, Allen continued his career with Standard Commercial Tobacco Company in Wilson, North Carolina.

Allen was a member of Louisburg Baptist Church and James A. Johnson Lodge #413.

Services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Louisburg Baptist Church with Dr. Reggie Rushing officiating, with burial following at Centerville Baptist Church.

The family received friends 6 – 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
