E. NELL BOONE
LOUISBURG - Edna Nell Bennett Boone of Louisburg died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, with the Rev. Jack Carter, the Rev. Winfred Porter and the Rev. Leo Bennett, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Boone Family Cemetery.

She was born to Sophia S. and James E. Bennett on November 22, 1930. She graduated high school in 1949 and then graduated Louisburg College in 1950 with a Secretarial Degree. On June 3, 1950, she married her husband, Edward E. Boone. She was first employed at Franklin County Welfare Office as a secretary for and then became employed with N.C. State College Extension Services until she retired in 1988 with 33 years of dedication. On February 16, 1952 she gave birth to their son, Jimmy. Nell was a Sunday School teacher and assisted with the NC Agricultural Reporting Services. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking, painting and shopping.Some of her achievements included extensive traveling, visiting all 50 states plus Canada and Nova Scotia, and she was awarded Secretary of the Year in 1980.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward E. Boone; son, James Taylor Boone and his wife, Ardeth; granddaughter, Jamie Whitley and husband, Matt; grandson, Brad Boone and wife, Kelly; great-granddaughter, Taylor Whitley; brothers, Larry Bennett and wife, Judy, Leo Bennett and wife, Barbara, Charlie Bennett and wife, Peggy Jo, and Dan Bennett and friend, Matilda.

The family received friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.
