FANNIE P. HAYES
JANUARY 6, 1917 – SEPTEMBER 3, 2011
LOUISBURG - Fannie Barbara Patterson Hayes was born in Franklin County January 6, 1917.  The widow of Graham K. Hayes, she raised her two children on the farm that she dearly loved.  She loved her vegetable garden and her flower garden more.  She always grew special flowers for her church, Shiloh United Methodist Church, and they adorned the altar every Sunday for over fifty years.  She was loved by all who knew her.  She loved life and the life she had with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  God has blessed her with all His love.  She will live forever in all our hearts.  We will see her one day in Heaven; she is at rest now, in the arms of God.  He was her strength and ours too.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Thad Kerney Hayes and Mary of Raleigh, and her daughter, Margie Hayes Neal of Winston-Salem.  Her grandchildren Steven Hayes of Youngsville, Kevin and Brian Neal of Winston, Lewis and Lisa Pope of Louisburg, Thomas and Kathy Pope and Mike and Laura Pope of Raleigh. Her great-grandchildren Sybrina Hayes of Wake Forest, Lauren, Thad and Jennifer Pope of Louisburg, Katy and Tommy Pope of Raleigh, Brian and Kevin Hancock of Wake Forest, Amanda Pope of Wake Forest and Cory Pope of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.  A special thanks to her niece Janie Lassiter for all your loving care.

She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hayes and Louisa Hancock.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 1622 Mort Harris Road, Louisburg, with the Rev. Stan Gallagher-Smith and the Rev. George Megill officiating.  Burial follow ed at Duke Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at all other times at the home of Kerney Hayes, 5500 Pear Orchard Circle, Raleigh, 919-876-4364.
