CAROL HAYES DEMENT
July 27, 1941 – August 21, 2009
LOUISBURG – Carol Hayes Dement, 68, of 102 Williamson Street, died Friday afternoon.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow W. Hayes, and her husband, Durwood H. Dement. She was an active member of Hill King United Methodist Church and taught the Sunshine Bible Class for the last 26 years, and was a retired elementary school teacher.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday at Hill King United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rhonda Maurer and the Rev. Kellie Gallagher-Smith officiating. Burial followed in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Amy Dement Lowe of Raleigh; mother, Grace Perdue Hayes of Louisburg; grandson, Vincent Lowe of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Duke Research  Pulmonary  and  Vascular  Disease  Center, c/o Dr. Victor Tapson, MD, Duke University Hospital, 353-D Bell Building, Durham, NC 27710 or Hill King United Methodist Church, c/o Janice Southerland, 668 Stone-Southerland Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family received friends 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg, and other times at the home.
