JAMES E. HAWKINS

OXFORD - James E. Hawkins Sr., 82, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Veteran's Hospital in Durham. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Concord Baptist Church by the Rev. Samuel Blalock. Burial will follow in the Hawkins family cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Oxford, and one hour prior to the services at Concord Baptist Church.

He was a retired farmer and a graduate of A&T State University.

Surviving: wife, Bernice Massenburg Hawkins; daughter, Jacquetta Hawkins of Durham; son, James E. Hawkins Jr. of Henderson; brother, Herman Hawkins of Kittrell; sisters, Yvonne Basheer of High Point, Ruth Payton of Raleigh, Oza Sanders of Brown Summit, Geraldine Hall of Oxford, Ilean Mattocks and Marie Ray, both of Henderson; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concord Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Walter Grissom Road, Kittrell, NC 27544.
