Access road just one piece of local job-creation puzzle
Okay, we have celebrated the $1.74-million grant that will be used to construct a new access road into central Franklin County’s industrial park — formally known as the Triangle North Franklin Industrial Park.
What does that mean?
Although the access road is critical for the success of the park, its construction probably won’t mean much by itself.

Will somebody please help stop the violence
Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter because I don’t know what to do. I called the police a few weeks ago to stop a fight on my street.
When I went outside I found my brother beaten really bad. His teeth were knocked out.
When the police came, they locked up my grandson and brothers that did not hit anyone. They did not do anything to anyone.

A Louisburg area man reported to investigators late last week that he and his house were pelted with pellets.
Jeffrey Adams of Cavalier Lane reported to sheriff’s deputies on Oct. 8 that he heard gunshots at about 11 a.m. behind his house.
When he checked, Adams told Dep. Keith Jones that pellets fell on him and his shed.

Weekend is huge at Louisburg
It’s not being called The Big Event this time around, but that shouldn’t understate the importance of Louisburg College’s homecoming ceremonies, which will take place Saturday at various sites on campus.
The Big Event, which celebrated the first-ever LC Athletic Hall of Fame Class, was held in 2007.
The second HOF Class will be inducted Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Frances Boyette Dickson Auditorium.

LOUISBURG -- Another week, another milestone victory for the Louisburg College football program.
Last Saturday, the Hurricanes’ trip to the Sunshine State proved to be a profitable one, as LC recorded a 20-11 victory at Edward Waters College, which is located in Jacksonville, Fla.
It was the first-ever victory for LC against the varsity team of a four-year program.

Wesleyan football posts homecoming decision
ROCKY MOUNT -- North Carolina Wesleyan College celebrated its 2010 Homecoming last Saturday, and it truly was a great day for Battling Bishops’ fans.
In football, the Blue & Gold won its  third straight game and 11th straight USA South contest dating back to 2008 with a 48-12 thumping of Greensboro College at the Northern Nash Football Complex in Red Oak.

NEW YORK -- Christian Buffaloe, the 10-year-old son (and student) of  Kyokushin Karate Instructor Kenny Buffaloe, recently participated in a high-level Japanese Youth Martial Arts Demonstration in New York, at the “All American Kyokushin Karate Championships.”
The Buffaloes reside in Warrenton.
