FRANKLINTON -- Thanks to a battered helmet, Will Jones’ Iron Man legacy at Franklinton grew with every football game last fall.
As the season progressed, Jones helmet began to chip, mainly from collisions with opponents. And considering the fact that Jones played just about every down -- on both offense and defense -- there were plenty of opportunities for the paint job to wear off.
Pictured (Above): CHOWAN BOUND. Franklinton High School football standout Will Jones signs a letter-of-intent to continue his career at Chowan University. Also pictured are (back, l to r) FHS Athletic Director Deran Coe, FHS football coach Clark Harrell and FHS Principal Charles Fuller; (front, l to r) Daniel Williford (stepfather) and Jane Jones (mother).

My advice to Doug Berger and John May: Hands Off!
My advice to Doug Berger and John May: Hands Off!
GOOD MORNING: These up-down, up-down Yo-Yo temperatures we’ve been experiencing of late continued to dominate the local weather this week.
While I’ve seen it quite a bit cooler this time of the year on occasion, with frost as late as May, the mercury dipped to 40 degrees at the house Monday morning.
