LC drops three of four games
LANCASTER, S.C. -- The Louisburg College Hurricanes baseball team dropped a pair of road conference games Sunday afternoon as LC was defeated 14-8 and 13-5 by USC-Lancaster.

Spencer Bivens got the start in game one but didn’t figure in the decision as Tyler Holt took the loss out of the pen.

Tyler Dickens took to the hill in game two where he picked up the loss throwing 4.2 innings of work where he gave up 13 runs, eight earned, on 16 hits.

The Hurricanes had a pair of perfect performances at the plate as CJ Needam went 4-4 in game one, while Christian Snider went 4-4 in game two.

Cedric Mullins also swung it well in game two as he went 3-4 at the plate.

The 20-14 Canes will hit the road again on Thursday when they travel to Kinston to play Lenoir Community College in a midweek nonconference game.

LC will host rival Spartanburg Methodist College this Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. for a four-game series at Frazier Field.

Spartanburg Methodist is currently in first place in the Region X standings, and the Pioneers are 29-9 overall.

Louisburg will also be at home next weekend for a Region X series against the University of South-Carolina Salkehatchie.

LAST SATURDAY: The Louisburg College baseball team earned a road win, 11-0 over USC Lancaster last Saturday afternoon but the Lancers bounced back to defeat the Hurricanes, 6-1, in the nightcap.

Louisburg pounded out 14 hits in game one which was more than enough for starter Jon Stires, who only allowed three hits in his six innings of work on the mound.

The freshman also struck out six USCL batters.

Shortstop Kory Shumate led the way at the plate as he went 3-4 and drove in one RBI, while Cedric Mullins went 2-3 and also drove in a run.

CJ Needam only had one hit in the conference win but he drove in three RBI.

Daniel Batts got the start in game two but he didn’t last long as he only pitched two innings, taking the loss.

Tyler Holt threw 1.2 innings of one-hit relief before giving way to Ryan Puryear, who threw the final 2.1 innings of the game.

Outfielder Cedric Mullins provided all of the LC offense in game two as he went 1-3 and hit a solo home run.
