Will health care gripes lead to solutions?
Will health care gripes lead to solutions?
What started as a “gripe session” at a meeting of the Franklin County Medical Society Tuesday night seemed to evolve into initiatives toward improving medical care in Franklin County.
The meeting, held at a Wake Forest restaurant, at first focused on what medical care is now available in the county with Dr. Robert McLaurin, chair of the society, touting not only the Franklin County Cancer Center that he owns and operates but also the skills of surgeon Dr. Chad Caldwell who has announced that he is accepting a position in Granville County at the end of the month.

The Arts Council cut ties with two stalwarts this week.
First, board members discussed the retirement of the group’s founder, Allen de Hart.
And the Arts Council also severed its official ties with the International Whistlers Convention on Thursday night.
Both decisions leave the immediate future of the 38-year-old International Whistlers Convention teetering.

County can legally use school bond for modular building
Although Franklin County plans to use school bond money to add space for the Early College Program, the decision should not jeopardize plans for that site in the future, staff said.

Whistlers and Arts Council end duet
It’s official. No surprise, but official.
The International Whistlers Convention is no longer part of the Franklin County Arts Council.
