576.Blazing Bass Boat
Fire departments from Bunn, Franklinton and Youngsville responded to a backyard shop fire on Tarboro Road on Friday night. Earl Perry was syphoning gas from a tractor to fill his boat for a weekend fishing trip when a gas spill ignited. The boat’s gas tanks erupted, setting Perry’s pants and the contents of the metal structure on fire. Perry was able to get his pants off before any injury, but the metal building and the fiberglass boat gave way to the heat. Above, a thermal imaging camera is used to detect hot spots so firemen can spray them to prevent any flare-ups.
