LOUISBURG - Kenneth Cain, 69, of Louisburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, June 1, 2019 at his home in Louisburg, NC, where a private memorial service with his family was held.

Kenneth was born on January 11, 1950 in New York, New York, the youngest of four children to Frances Henning Cain and Edward Cain. After his graduation from high school he moved to Fishkill, New York and began working for IBM. There he worked first as a manufacturing process operator, advancing his positions to Facilities Engineering Manager, Program Manager, Loaned Executive Program Economics Development Director and Director of IBM Charitable Contributions Campaign. During his tenure with IBM, he was an avid volunteer for numerous organizations in the Hudson Valley, including Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America's Developmentally Disabled Teens, the Corporate Executive Staff to CEO of IBM for the United Way of America and served on the Board of Directors for United Way of New York State. He worked at IBM until his retirement in 1994. He moved with his family to Raleigh, NC where he devotedly worked for years at the Raleigh Soup Kitchen. In 2006, he moved to Louisburg to assist with what was then called the Louisburg Inn, a Queen Anne Victorian Bed and Breakfast in historic Louisburg. His volunteer work continued as he participated as a Guardian Ad Litem for the Franklin County Court, coached little league baseball, and worked to create a Neighborhood Crime Watch for his Louisburg neighborhood.

He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia; his two sons, Zachary Adam Cain and Austin Bennett Cain of Raleigh; daughter, Laura Glatt Miliambro, her husband, Shane Miliambro; sister, Dorothy Malkani, her husband Kenwal of Salisbury; his nephew Craig and his wife,Victoria of Durham. His sister, Patricia Lapore, and his brother, Edward Cain, predeceased him. Their children (respectively), Lisa Lalonde, her daughter Etain, Christopher and Andrea Cain also survive him.

Sadly, Kenneth was diagnosed with cancer April 30, 2018. He courageously and tenaciously fought this horrible disease, believing up into the last moments of his death that he could beat it. He continuously stated that he did not want to leave his loved ones.

Kenneth had a tremendous fondness for Newfoundlands, having had them as pets and supported the Newfoundland Club of America. He was a self-taught drummer and devoted a room in his home to listening to music while drumming on his vintage drum set. He considered himself fortunate to have traveled with his family to what he considered his homeland of Ireland. His remaining wish was to make it there one more time, but it was not to be. Therefore, his legacy is to see that his family plan to live out that dream for him.

Kenneth was an avid supporter of law enforcement and first responders. Kenneth's family lovingly wishes to thank everyone for the acts of kindness and visitations throughout Kenneth's duration of illness and our time of bereavement. A celebration of Kenneth's life will be scheduled in the near future.
