SPRING HOPE -- A Spring Hope man has been jailed on felony charges after reportedly admitting that he shot at a car allegedly involved in a burglary at his home. The car contained four young men, one of which was shot in the head and is now in critical condition.Zachary Bryant, 30, of 7949 Savage Road, Spring Hope is charged with four felonies: assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a handful of break-ins. During the early morning hours of Oct. 5, a burglary alarm was triggered at a home in the 100 block of Misty Way near Franklinton. According to the report by Dep. J. Maloney, he and Franklinton Police Sgt. W.B. Bulloch responded to the scene to discover that forced entry had been made into the home.

Novozymes of Franklinton recently donated 40 laptop and eight desktop computers to be refurbished through the Teaming for Technology partnership with the United Way of the Greater Triangle and the United Way of Franklin County. Joe Burgess, Teaming for Technology manager, said the computers will be refreshed with new software and then will be distributed through UWFC to schools and other Franklin County organizations that may need them.
