As the Stonewood Properties Giants proved during last week’s Youngsville Minor League Baseball Tournament at Luddy Park.
The Giants’ pitching tandem of Branson Capps and Tucker Brown combined for 53 strikeouts and allowed just 11 runs in five outings.
The Giants also piled up 51 total runs on offense, with Capps and Brown -- and others -- coming up with clutch base hits.

Ophelia Wade Day, 95, died Sunday, December 22, 2019. Born December 6, 1924 in Alamance County, NC and grew up in Person County, NC. She lived in Louisburg, NC from 1951 until 2017. She was the daughter of Robert Ellis and Mary Turner Wade. She was the wife of the late Durell C. Day of the NC State Highway Patrol. She was predeceased by her siblings Eugene Wade, Ernest Wade, and Irene Wade Williams.

Traffic was snarled along N.C. Highway 56 on Thursday afternoon when a tanker carrying fertilizer overturned. The truck was carrying biomass from Novozymes in Franklinton to a nearby farm to be sprayed as fertilizer when the tanker overturned at about 12:30 p.m.

Investigators were putting together the pieces of a murder/suicide Tuesday morning that left two people dead and one injured.
Officers responded to an 8:15 a.m. shots-fired call at Phelps Staffing off Bickett Boulevard.
They found Amy Calamaco Alvarez, 22, dead, and her shooter, Jerold Lee, 26, dead next to her from a self-inflicted wound.
Another woman, Heather Miller, 30, was found in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip. She was taken to Franklin Regional Medical Center before being taken to UNC Hospitals.
