The Louisburg Town Council will consider a special-use permit Monday night that will lock in the T. Kemp Road location for a new county animal shelter if approved.
The action will culminate nearly three years of focused effort to overhaul animal control in Franklin County, supporters said.

Lawsuit names town, ex-cop and police department
A Youngsville man has filed a lawsuit against the town, police department and a former officer who is accused of using excessive force during an arrest last year.
Durham attorney Larry Hall filed the suit in Franklin County Civil Superior Court last week, claiming that former Officer Stephen Puryear kicked and hit his client, Stephen Williamston, during an arrest on the evening of Sept. 6, 2006.

FRANKLINTON -- After a lopsided early-season loss to Franklinton, the Louisburg Warriors were determined to put up quite the struggle during Wednesday’s rematch at the Franklinton Recreation Park.
But the talented Red Rams have a way of quickly deflating the hopes of opponents. Wednesday’s game proved to be no different as a quick early goal put FHS in charge for good en route to a 5-0 victory over the Warriors.

Lady Rams score tennis victory against Bunn
FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Franklinton evened its record on the season with a 5-4 road victory Thursday at Bunn in a Northern Carolina Conference girls tennis matchup.
The Lady Rams took five of six singles matches during the league event. Bunn swept the doubles, which featured several of Franklinton’s backups.

Grid stars from BHS televised
Former Bunn High football players Mike Rinfrette and Kerry Neal have received plenty of national-television face time over the past two weeks.
Neal has earned a backup defensive line position as a true freshman at Notre Dame, which has opened with losses to Georgia Tech and Penn State.

FHS Topped In OT
WELDON -- Franklinton sought its second straight victory Friday night, but it wasn’t to be as the Red Rams dropped another winnable overtime game against a non-conference opponent.
In Week Two of the season, FHS lost in double overtime at home against Southeast Halifax. The Red Rams had a second OT opportunity Friday, only to fall 12-6 at Weldon.

Bunn Rallies Past Webb
OXFORD -- Bunn used some offensive, defensive and special teams heroics to rally in the fourth quarter past host Oxford Webb 21-20 in a wild football thriller Friday night.
The Wildcats trailed 20-7 with under six minutes remaining in the game before mounting their comeback.

Warriors Roll On Road
MANTEO -- Louisburg bounced back from last week’s defeat against Bunn in thunderous fashion with a road victory Friday at Manteo -- the defending Class 1-A state runner-up.
LHS racked up 434 total yards of offense and also put together another strong defensive effort in defeating Manteo by a 36-12 margin.
